Privacy
ota.gg is a public shelf: you sign in, you list anime, other people look at the page. This document says exactly what we store to make that work, and what we do not.
There is no advertising, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no third-party scripts on this site. Nobody is buying your data, because nobody is being sold it.
What we store
From signing in
You sign in with Discord or Google. We never see or handle your password ~ the provider authenticates you and hands us a small profile: an account identifier, your email address, and, if you have one, your display name and avatar. We keep those to identify your account and to pre-fill your profile the first time you arrive.
What you put on your page
Your username, display name, bio, avatar, chosen theme, chosen flair, outbound links, and the anime on your shelf with whether you are watching or have watched each one. All of this is public by design: it is the page you are asking us to publish at ota.gg/your-handle. Do not put anything on it that you would not put on a poster.
We also keep previous usernames for a short window after you change one, so links people have already shared keep working rather than landing on a stranger.
From your browser
- Session cookies. One set, from our authentication provider, that keeps you signed in. They are strictly necessary for the site to function, which is why there is no cookie banner ~ there is nothing optional to consent to.
- Server logs. Ordinary request logs kept by our hosting and database providers (IP address, timestamp, path, user agent), retained briefly for security and debugging.
Cover art and your IP address
Cover images are not hotlinked from other sites. They pass through our own proxy, which means the image hosts see our server rather than your browser, and cannot use cover art to track you across the web.
Who else touches it
We use ordinary infrastructure providers to run the site ~ hosting, database, authentication and file storage. They process data on our instructions in order to serve you the page, and for no purpose of their own. Discord or Google also process your sign-in, under their own privacy policies.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone else except where the law genuinely requires it.
How long we keep it
Your profile and shelf stay until you delete them. When an account is deleted, the page comes down immediately and the underlying records are purged after a short grace period ~ long enough to undo a mistake, not long enough to be a filing cabinet.
Your rights
You can see everything we hold about you on your own settings and shelf pages, and edit it there at any time. If you are in the EU, the UK, or anywhere with comparable law, you also have the right to a copy of your data, to correct it, to have it erased, and to complain to your data protection authority.
To exercise any of that, or to have an account deleted, email hello@ota.gg from the address on the account. We will answer within 30 days.
Children
ota.gg is not for children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that bar. We do not knowingly keep accounts for them; tell us and we will remove one.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes and the new version is here before it takes effect.
